Mommyhood Confessions

UPDATE: I am SO over this. Well, for the most part. I was just having a bad day, that's all. BTW: my Hubby is TOTALLY fantastic. He did all the dishes AND laundry last night! Erica... well, she's still being needy. But thats okay, she's only 3.

First, a side note: Erica's party was so fun! Went well-- except that I lost my voice from trying to talk over the kids at Friday's party and Saturday's party. Once I get the pictures and movie clips transfered to my computer, I'll tell more.

I've shared mommyhood confessions before. But they were all light-hearted... like "I don't always button all of her buttons" or "I gave her animal crackers for breakfast."

Here's a not-so-pretty one.

I'M SICK OF TAKING CARE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S NEEDS!

I feel like all I ever do is take care of my husband and daughter.* They need this or that... constantly. I'm constantly hearing what people need me to do. WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS??? I'd like to get away more often than just once every-other-week. And it would be nice to have someone answer my beck-and-call. To make a request and not be hastled about it.

I don't always want to do play-doh. I don't always want to cook dinner. I can't always drop what I'm doing to put in a DVD right away. I don't want to make all the phone calls. I don't want to change diapers all the time. [Oh wait-- she's potty trained! So change that to, clean the pee that missed the potty.] Fill an empty cup with more juice or water or tea. Get out the snack foods-- which I know people shouldn't be eating anyway. Put her in pajamas, read a book, put her to bed.

Can I get a week to just be me? Not a mother or a wife? Does this make me a bad person?

*Of course, these demands are more so from Erica than Hubby. [And in this rant and rave, I forget that he does all the laundry for me. He helps a lot more than other husbands do. I am thankful... This was just all a rant that I needed to get out... And my rants aren't always the most rational.]

no not at all. My husband adn I were just laying in bed realizing that we aren't going to be able to sleep in for another 15-18 years. Depends on how many kids we have. We realized that here soon we are going to have to ditch the parenthood thing for a day and take off for a overnight vacation! don't feel bad...be thankful you are still sain enough to have sensable thoughts :) ha ha

I understand. I wish I lived near you because it sounds like you need a good ole fashioned spa day one where you go to the bathroom and don't hear mommy...or take a bath by your self or hey did you know they make movies not in cartoon form..it could be just a rumor.

I can totally relate (I'm having one of those days as I look at the kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and our wreck of a bedroom), so I know what you mean! That was one of the main reasons I got back into Premier Designs - I needed a night off a week to go spend time with other women, and of course, bringing in a little extra money for baby is a plus! :-)
