Le Morte D'Arthur

Favorite school subjects [well, more accurately, topics that I loved learning about]

-Ancient Egypt. I was fascinated by them, especially all their gods. Not that I believed in any of that, but I did find it fascinating to learn about. And all about the many pharoahs, the pyramids, the sphynx, etc.
-Roman Empire. Not their gods, though. I found Zeus and others quite annoying, actually. But I liked learning about their architecture and things that they built. For some reason, I loved the aquaducts.
-The Vikings. Okay, okay. So they were in all actuallity very mean and cruel people. Oh well, I loved their ships and their outfits. And I found something quite intriguing about their conquests.
-The Romantic Era. No, not "ooh, la la." The romantic era took place more during rennsaince time, but looked back to medieval times, towards the great epic heroes and adventures. And of all these stories, my favorite was King Arthur. I was fascinated with ALL THINGS Arthur. My high school senior research paper [a 20+ page ordeal] was mostly based on King Arthur.

Because of this, I've always wanted to read Le Morte d'Arthur. It's one of my life goals. However, I just never had a chance. Well, I decided that now is the time!

When I got it out from the library, the main librarian guy said to me: "Wow, your getting serious now. I've started reading this dozens of times, but never finished it." I must admit, its hard to read. Its written in very old english. But I'm enjoying it anyway. Really, I am.

I want to share a quote with you, which I just laughed at: "And Arthur was so bloody, that by his sheild there might no man know him, for all was blood and brains on his sword."


[End note: When I was in high school, there was a made-for-tv movie titled "Merlin," and I loved loved loved it. Well, I just searched it, and found it on imdb. I've GOT to find a way to get my hands on a copy of it!]
