"My hand smells funny"

My daughter. I never know what's going to come out of her mouth... and she's not even 3 yet. [Though its quickly approaching!!!]

She came up to me this morning while I was working on my laptop [more on that to come]. She put her hand in my face and said, "My hand smells funny." And it indeed did. I asked her why it was smelly. I shouldnt have. Her reply: "I stuck my hand down my diaper."

YUCK!!!

Anyway... So I love my laptop. Its great; I can work anywhere. So this morning as Erica was playing, I sat on the couch to work. I'm gonna start teaching a preschooler group Wednesdays [which will include Erica; hopefully that won't be a problem]. I'm coming up with all my own material, so I have a LOT to do. Granted, preschoolers can't be taught much; their attention spans are so short that they can't sit thru long lessons. So I'm coming up with games, snacks, crafts, etc to go along with the lessons. And lots of hands-on things that they can do to interact with the lesson.

Example: We're gonna talk about the stars, sun, moon. I'm gonna cut out pictures of those things and give them to the kids. So when I talk about stars, the kids with stars will put their stars up on the picture of the nighttime sky. Our craft that day is simple, but good for them. We're gonna make play-doh stars. Yes, quite simple, but little kids love play-doh.

One of the positives about having Erica is that I can test this out on her before the Wednesday comes up. The negative is that she may not listen to me during the classtime b/c I'm her mom. It's always easier to pay attention to another adult than their own moms.

Eww! The things two year olds think to do...

Good luck with the class, it sounds like a lot of fun.

I will not ask if it was a wet or a dirty diaper... :-S

I loved teaching preschoolers, and was one of the hardest things I had to give up with I became the children's director at my church. But it was fun - there are lots of good resources online, so don't be afraid to google!

Are you feeling any better?
