My daddy say I can

She's too young! This can't be happening already!!!

Yes, my darling Erica has learned that if daddy doesn't give her something, she can come to me and ask, in hopes of getting it.

The other night, Andrew was downstairs with Erica while I was upstairs. Before I had gone up, I'd heard her asking him for crackers and he said "not before dinner." Well, a few minutes later Erica came up to me. She looks all cute, with a precious smile, tilts her head, and says "Can I have crackers?" In return, I asked "Well, what did daddy say?"

"My daddy say I can."

What an outright lie!!! First, I'd heard him say no. And second, gee... if Daddy said she could, why was she leaving the kitchen, coming UPSTAIRS to me??

She uses this 'logic' at other times too. When she wants to do something and I say no, she says "My daddy say I can." Ugh, even when I know he never did say that.

IN OTHER NEWS...

I'm going through withdrawal. Its really so sad. I was falling in love with my laptop; it was a dream come true to type anywhere and everywhere I wanted. And now its gone. It lasted only about a week, and now its dead. My daughter killed it.

[sniff... snuffle... boo-hoo]

I was using it one night upstairs on the couch while Erica was playing. She comes over to me and wants to play with my laptop. I said no. She still approached. I tried holding her back, but still she approached. She went to close it... AND CRACKED THE SCREEN!!!

At first, I wasn't completely sure it was broken b/c it had turned off. But once I got it up again, there was a huge line through the screen. Oh, I was livid! I was so mad! I just wanted to -- -- --

And so, I ran upstairs to my room and locked myself in. Andrew said I was being ridiculous and should come back down; but the safest place for me to be right then was anywhere away from my daughter.

I am proud of myself. I didn't yell or scream or throw stuff or do any other kind of outrageous thing. It really was an accident; she didn't mean to do harm. But I've decided that now she's only getting ONE STRIKE before the time-outs come. Normally, I'd give her two or three warnings before sending her to time out. "Erica stop." "Don't do that again." "IF you do that again, you're getting a time out." Now she'll only get one warning.

I must admit, I get a little gleeful when she begs to play a computer game. I say, "Nope. You broke it, can't play."

OMG - I gasped when I got to the part where Erica cracked your computer screen. It is so hard for us, as well as them, when they are at that age. They want our attention, they want to do things themselves. It is seriously enough to make someone go crazy, but I'm with you. I would have done the same thing and ran to my room and closed the door. Well, I am happy that you still have A computer to blog on :)

Sounds like you've got your hands full with the Daddy say I can bit already!

I am so sad that your lap top is broken! Where did you buy it? Did you get the warranty? We got an extended warranty on the screen. I think it costs a little bit to replace it, but you can still get off cheaper than replacing the whole thing.

Whoa! Didn't expect the new laptop to be broken so soon. I don't think you did either! But accidents happen! Its great that you controlled your anger. I would have lost it.

corinne- yeah, it is fortunate that I still have a comp to blog on. My Hubby has 'his' computer while I had 'mine.' Now I'm using his... which has caused some controversy when we both need to use it

cray working mom- See, one of the other things that totally sucks is that my father had bought it for me as a gift. And I'm SOOO guilty [even though it really was an accident]. I couldnt tell him... so I asked my mom to relay the message!

crazy me- yup. totally sucks.

raj- I definitely did NOT expect that to happen. Only a week old!

Um yeah we've been having the "breaking of mommy's belongings" around here too! It sucks! But it's the age group. :(

P.S. Saturday Reagan told me he had fun running around with Erica at the park. Must do it again sometime! :)

A former coworker of mine had her laptop broken the same way, laptops really are not toddler friendly!

sin nature? no offense, I love my niece. You're not doing anything wrong, she was born to lie.

I heard a crazy feminist Christian quote that verse that says all men are liars. I guess all women are too. At least the two year old ones.

Hollar! Love ya sis.
