The ants come marching home again, hurrah hurrah

Last year we had such a terrible time with ants. It was horrid. They were all over the place: in the kitchen, basement, bedrooms, living room, and even on Erica's toys. Occasionally even ON ERICA! We finally got a pest control guy to come take care of them. I was very gleeful when they died.

NOW...

Our neighbor girls came over yesterday and asked if I could give them the phone # for the pest guy we had; they have ants all over their house. I shuddered, crossing my fingers that the ants wouldn't find their way over to my house.

Not long after that, I discovered some ants in our sunroom. Only a few, scouting things out. But enough to make me proactive! I left immediately for a store that carried all kinds of ant-killing-goodies. Hehehehe. When it comes to killing ants, I feel a wicked sense of happiness.

I had Erica w/ me, and thankfully she stayed in the aisle w/ me instead of running off. I took my time surveying the different products. I bought three different kinds. For inside, I got poison-free traps. Its basically just a little trap w/ sticky-stuff inside. Its scented with pheromones to attract them, and once they get in they cant leave. For outside, I got little 'stakes' that you stick in the ground. And finally, my favorite-- a granular concoction that you sprinkle all around the outside of your home. I spread it all around....

And I rediscovered their favorite mating place. In our backyard, there's a 'wall' of stones around our flowerbed. Last year I found huge colonies of them underneath them. Well, they are beginning to grow in numbers again. So, I sprinkled the stuff all around the stone wall. And then I flipped off all the top rocks and sprinkled the stuff on top of there and then down the little cracks.

Please pray with me that they will all die!!! [is that bad?]

[PS: Is my new purple border better than the previous peachy-orange? Or should I change it back?]

The Ant Killer! I don't blame you, would have done the same thing! Nip it in the bud!

Remind me not to come over to your house any time soon.

Good luck with the ants. We have ant problems too, and unfortunately no exterminator will come because we have a huge pile of coal in our basement from our fireplace.

Hello Becky,
I noticed u didnt reply to my comment. So, I guess I should say it again. I saw ur pics...very cute. You should try leaving ur hair down (open) so it frames ur face. I think ud look more beautiful. And have u ever tried contacts? Your daughter is adorable! :) My granddaughter looks just like her. And I like your purple header.

Grandma-- [no offense, but] do I know you personally? [its okay if i dont... i was just wondering.]

anyway, to your comments. I sometimes leave my hair down. I've been trying to more often since i read your comment previously. The only problem is that its THICK, FRIZZY, AND CURLY-ish. Not good things for dry, humid weather. And especially when just running around the house after Erica.

No u do not know me. My grandchildren are just teaching me how to stay busy (reading people's blogs) and I came across yours. I live in Paris, Ontario, Canada. I am 69 years old and I am Christian Orthodox. I just was telling you to leave your hair down bc my daughter has hair like you and if you buy a nice hair straightner, and straightened your hair, you would look very beautiful. And if you dont want to straighten it, put some mouse or product in it to make it curly. :) I probably sound weird to you but I am just bored and I guess when you hit my age, the only thing left to do is tell people what to do. The internet is a real different experience for me and I guess it does help keep me busy aside from watching television. But the screen gets to me at times and it takes me ages to type. (You should guess how long it took me to wright this message). But anyway, you have a perfect family and may the Lord bless you with happiness and eternal beauty and truth.
