teething is a pain... [i think]

i wish that i could be here to write happy things. instead, i need to vent.

Let me preface this by saying: part of my sour mood is b/c i was sick all morning. It makes it hard to deal with things when you yourself are feeling awful.

So, erica's teething. The last time one of her incisors came in, she was chaotic. I'm sure she's teething again, so it's causing the crankiness. at least, thats my guess. Well, one of my guesses. I have several; i'm not sure which is right. here's whats up...

She hasnt been sleeping. My blessed child who always goes to bed w/o a fuss, suddenly screams when she is put in her crib. For naps and for bedtime. And a few days ago, she woke up in the middle of the night screaming. I got her [b/c for her, this is definitely an abnormal thing] and brought her to bed w/ me to fall asleep again. Then i took her back to her crib. but she woke up screaming again after maybe ten minutes. so i brought her with me again for the rest of the night. In the morning, she walked back into her room and grabbed something and started dragging it out of the room, yelling at it. i wondered: hmmm, maybe it was scaring her in the dark. So, we took it out completely.

Last night she was having trouble sleeping again. So i was carrying her around the upstairs, trying to shush her. In the bathroom, there was a little light on... When i left that room and went into my room, she started screaming. i wondered: hmmm, maybe its b/c of the dark. So i opened the curtain so some light would come in.

So in her room tonight, i have a clock plugged in so that it will lighten the room a bit. When i took her up, i swayed with her for several minutes till she really settled down. Then i layed her down and left. To which she began screaming.

I just left the room and came downstairs. Dont think i'm awful... She IS asleep now. And have a bit of compassion... i felt sick all day, and now have tons of chores to make up.

arggg... the ongoing "adventures of mommyhood..."

Dear Becky,

M~ has been having issues going to sleep, staying in bed after being tucked in and getting herself back to sleep when she wakes up at night. I'm sure we'll trade war stories this Sunday when you are visiting. Please confirm you received our email invitation and that you are coming. Thanks! A. Martin
