my worst fear confirmed

Okay, so this isnt my WORST fear. but, awhile back i mentioned that i fear that people think i'm wasting my life and education on being a SAHM [stay at home mom]. I had lots of readers reassure me that its NOT a waste at all. And i've had lots of conversations with other people when they ask what i do, i say "i'm just a mom," and they say "dont say "just." thats the hardest job there is!"

Well, i was visiting my alma mater, to visit a favorite professor who i still keep close contact with. I also ran in with the teacher who was one of my supervisors while student teaching. [he left his highschool teaching job to work at the college.] I really had a lot of respect for him, b/c he helped me out alot more than other teachers i worked with, and gave me tons of advice and guidance. When he asked what i've been up to, i told him that i'm a stay at home mom. can you guess what he said? "Thats all?" I dont remember his exact words, but he then said something along the lines that being a SAHM is wasting my good education and teaching experiences.

Needless to say, i am feeling pretty crappy now...

on another note... this is probably a mother's worst fear. Its so sad to hear when this happens: Have you heard about baby abby? She was kidnapped from her home at only a few days old. Well, the baby was found! How exciting! I'm so glad that the mother has her baby back.

I read about Baby Abby too.. I agree with Clairissa, there's a lot of strange people out there.

Don't worry about what other people say. Sometimes people say things to make you feel bad about what you do because they're jealous. Even though for me it's different, I know what you mean. Some people say "you're just a teacher" just?? JUST!! People are just stupid!

It hurts when someone u respect says something like that but I think u shud have tried to change his viewpoint and make him understand that wha tu do is equally important and that its a full time job.

Its difficult to make people think differently but u cud have tried :)

There are countless advantages for a child to have one parent predominately home. Not to mention that being a "SAHM" requires a _LOT_ of skills learned during college education (E.g. time management, responsibility, multitasking, etc.). I'd say that being a home mother is not only an admirable profession, not only for the work involved, but for the love and caring your child is receiving.

Keep up da good work,

P.S. Miss me =D... *crickets cherp*. ok, how about: Remember me? =D
