a stalker

so, abby and i had a great trip to Georgia and South Carolina. the 12 hour drive down went by so fast. Sister-dearest had the grand idea of reading a book together aloud while driving. I thought it was absurd-- until we started. It was a great idea, and made the trip go so fast. Driving the 3 hours to Columbia, SC and then back again to GA seemed like only 30 minutes, compared to the 12 hours down from PA. Coming home was awful though. It just seemed to drag on and on and on.

My friend's wedding was wonderful. I'm so happy for her. I told her husband "you have a great girl here." and he said: "i know." A perfect answer. It was nice also to see other friends that i had gone to college with. I was only in SC for 3 semesters, before moving back home to PA. [an excedingly LONG story...] But that was the best 1 & 1/2 years of my college life. The college i transferred to was crappy in comparison. Ah well.

SO-- Back to the story at hand.

We spent our time in Georgia with family: aunt, uncle, cousin, other cousin and her hubby and 3 kids. It was fantastic. I LOVED the vacation away from home. [Though, i did change one diaper while i was there-- and of course it was a poopy one.] Here are some highlights:

a) The family took in a stray kitten. Such a little thing. They named him Alpo-- b/c one of the guys who found the cat said he'd take it home to feed to his dogs. But my aunt jumped in and offered to take the cat. The kids absolutely loved the cat. It was a cutie.
b) As mentioned, abby and i read a great book. Actually, three books. It was a trilogy. We didnt finish it; there are 20-some pages left. An adverse side affect however: i just about lost my voice from it.
c) My cousin and her husband were putting together a huge picnic, and abby and i were able to help them with it. We had a splendid time, helping with games and setting up/packing up all the stuff. UNFORTUNATELY, my cousin's daughter [only 1 & 1/2 years old] got bit by a dog and had to be taken to the ER. I'm glad that abby and i were there to be able to help clean up after the picnic while they were gone.
d) Sleep, sleep, sleep!!! I was able to wake up to an alarm clock, not a crying baby. [okay, she's not a baby anymore, she's a toddler.] Nonetheless, it was nice to wake myself up with the ability to hit the snooze button a few times.
e) I got my eyebrows waxed. Shhh... dont tell andrew. Okay, its not really a big deal. Only like $5. As a mommy of a baby-- i mean toddler-- i just dont have time to pluck!

the #1 drawback of our time down south: THE HEAT! it was so hot and humid. Yucky. But at least they had air conditioning. sigh...

However, the heat followed us back up north. [hence, my title: "a stalker."] it was in the mid 90's yesterday. Andrew turned on our central air-- but its not working. I dont know why. It got up to 87 degrees inside our house. I took erica to walmart just to get out of the house!

so now, i'm sipping a nice iced-coffee. perhaps i will go to coffee-mate.com to look up iced coffee recipes...
pictures to come soon [i promise...]
